Absolutely! While we encourage participants to register as a two-player or four-player team, you’re welcome to register as an individual. If you don’t have a partner, we’ll match you with another solo player of a similar skill level — a great way to meet new people while supporting a meaningful cause.

All registration fees are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, please email [email protected].

Teams & Partners

Teams are made up of 2 or 4 players. Teams of 4 players determine their own rotation format while ensuring there is no delay in the game. Solo players are also welcome to register and will be matched with another player at a similar level.

Yes! Divisions are based on self-declared skill level when you register, not gender.

Skill Levels & Divisions

No — every level is welcome. Just pick your level during registration so we can place you in the right division. Find your level here.

You self-rate when you register. Ratings run from 1.0 to 5.0+, and we keep it simple with three options:

  • Beginner (1.0–2.5) — new to the sport or still picking up the basics. Here to learn and have fun.
  • Intermediate (3.0–4.5) — comfortable with positioning and rules, working on strategy, shots and consistency.
  • Advanced (5.0+) — top-tier, semi-pro to pro players who’ve mastered every part of the game.

Yes. There’s a short beginner tutorial on event day. An instructor at the facility walks you through how to play, teaches the rules and answers your questions before you start.

Please ensure you rate yourself as 1.0 or 2.0. If you have played a lot of tennis, it is likely you can be a 2.5 Pickleball player. If unsure, select 1.0.

We offer three divisions: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. During registration, please select the rating that best reflects your team’s skill level. Based on your selection, we will place your team in the most appropriate division.

Format & Scoring

Every team is guaranteed a minimum of 3 games in the event. Social play may be available as teams are knocked out of the tournament.

Matches are played using a rally scoring format, meaning a point is awarded on every rally regardless of which side served. Games are played to 11 points.

The tournament will follow a round-robin knockout format, giving teams multiple opportunities to compete before advancing to the playoff rounds. We will do our best to maximize play opportunities while keeping the tournament running on schedule.

Rules & Officiating

Yes, a medical team is on site throughout the tournament.

We will have coaches and referees on site to assist with gameplay and help ensure matches run smoothly. If any disputes arise during the tournament, the Tournament Director will make the final decision on how the matter is resolved.

Gear & What to Wear

You are welcome to bring your own paddle, or a complimentary loaner paddle will be available at the event.

Come dressed to move: running shoes, shorts or track pants, and a t-shirt. No baggy or unsafe clothing is permitted at the venue.

Participants are welcome to bring their own paddle or borrow one at the event. Standard tournament balls will be provided for all matches. There are no specific paddle restrictions at this time, provided the equipment is safe and suitable for play.

Fundraising & Donations

One hundred percent of all donations go directly to the Baycrest Foundation, some of which supports the cost of the event. Proceeds are then invested in leading-edge cognitive neuroscience research, advances in mitigating age-related illness and impairment, and the care and treatment of patients living with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other brain-related illnesses.

To crucial funding for breakthrough research into cognition, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and aging brain health; medical programs and services for older adults in our community; and education that supports healthy aging and healthcare solutions for a growing aging population.

This event is first and foremost a fundraiser — supporting research, innovation, care and education in Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The number of people living with dementia is expected to double by 2031, affecting families, caregivers and the health care system. We’re here to help with any fundraising questions.

Yes — team fundraising is welcome. A solo player must raise $500; two-player teams raise $1,000 together; four-player teams raise $1,800.

The fundraising minimum is per team, not per individual participant — with the exception of solo players, who fundraise individually.

  • Solo players must raise a minimum of $500
  • Teams of 2 must raise a minimum of $1,000
  • Teams of 4 must raise a minimum of $1,800

Fundraising totals will be tracked at the team level, and teams are encouraged to work together to meet or exceed their fundraising goal.
