Game Format & Rules

Everything you need to know before you step onto the court — simple, friendly, and fun-first.

All levels are welcome.

Whether you’re fresh outta’ the jar or a VIP — Very Important Pickler — this tournament is built for participation, connection, and a whole lot of fun. Each team consists of two players and is guaranteed three games. Traditional scoring applies: play to 11, win by 1.

Format

Number of Games

Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 3 games, regardless of wins or losses.

Scores will be kept throughout the tournament to help manage the schedule.

The focus is on participation and fun. Courts for social play games will be available as the tournament progresses. Check in at the Tournament Desk to keep the play going.

Teams

Team Composition

Each team consists of 2 players.

Players registering as individuals will be placed on a team with others of their pickleball skill level.

We reserve the right to audit and move teams into other divisions if we feel they are placed incorrectly.

Scoring

Game Scoring

Games are played to 11 points. Win by 1.

Players switch sides after 5 points. Each game has a time limit of 15 minutes.

Playoffs will be one game to 11, win by 1. All medal games will be one game to 15, win by 1. Gold medal matches will be refereed.

How to Score a Point

Win the rally: A point is scored when the serving team wins a rally by hitting a shot that the opposing team cannot return legally.

Opponent’s fault: A point is awarded to the serving team when the receiving team commits a fault, such as hitting the ball out of bounds, into the net, or not following the no-volley rule.
